Another great turnout
12 teams came to Chicago this weekend for the eighth annual Michael Lipov Memorial Cup and fought hard for the top spot. The defending men’s champions New York Athletic Club took home their third consecutive title. Meanwhile, on the women’s side, last year’s winners – Team Rogue – walked away with their second consecutive championship.
Tough competition all the way
The Men’s final was a back and forth battle between NYAC and Chicago Inter. Chicago took a five point lead in the first half but NYAC crept back in during the second. The last few minutes were a heated back and forth before NYAC ultimately pulled away. The final score was 23-21. In the third-place game, Revol outlasted San Francisco CalHeat to round out the top three.
On the Women’s side, Team Rogue battled Chicago Inter in a close first half. The second half was all Team Rogue as they pulled away to a commanding 35-22 victory. In the third-place game San Francisco CalHeat didn’t let Army West Point’s breakneck pace wear them down claiming the victory.
